More "big boy" pictures

Here are some new "big boy" pictures--they really show just how big he is getting. First his haircut, then some more training pants pictures (really I can't help myself - he is just so cute!).

Here is an up-close of his new haircut...makes him look so much older!

Here L is in the middle of one of his screechy screams of unfettered joy, the cause of it, the espresso machine, what else? I was so happy that this shot came out in focus and perfectly capturing just how excited he gets. I immediately put it up as my desktop picture!

We picked up a bunch of new little trainers, but the tighty whitey look just was too much for us, so we decided to tie dye them!

"But I don't want my picture taken..."

Hard at work with the airplane toy that Grammy and Pop Pop got for him for Christmas.

Big cheesy grin for the camera!

In other news, L is doing great with pottying and with school. Pretty much on a daily basis, one of the assistants or the teacher tells us what a happy kid he is. He has taken it as his job at school to feed and fill the water container up for the guinea pigs; it is the first thing that he does when he gets into the classroom, not even stopping to give mom or dad a kiss goodbye or even taking off his coat! And yet, he is definitely a toddler, with toddler ideas some more flexible than others, some creative, some outlandish, some determined, and others just plain crazy, we have enjoyed his putting his plans together, even if we don't always let him execute them.

Big boy and the non-stop giggle video

L is definitely growing up fast! *sigh* I picked him up some big boy training pants thinking (and secretly hoping) that they would be something new and interesting to keep him curious about the potty, but not necessarily thinking that he was ready for them. Well, apparently, L didn't get that memo about him being only 17 months old and a boy and didn't he know that boys are supposed to start potty training late and all of that other stuff about moms not wanting their kids to grow up too fast. I guess not.

While we don't wear them yet throughout the day, when we do after nap time, he is able to tell me ahead of time when he is about to potty and we manage to get to his little potty in time. Such a big boy! I guess we'll be off to Target to pick up some more training pants. Here he is checking out his new duds. They are a bit droopy because apparently Target didn't get Logan's memo about being interested in pottying early as the smaller trainer pants they have are in the size 2T a bit droopy in the draws for L!

Grammy also sent along a great waterproof smock for L to complement all of his waterplay. Now, if only I could get the teachers at Montessori to put this one him during the day we would be in business. It is the rare day when he comes home in the same outfit that I dressed him in in the morning because he so frequently gets soaked at the water table at school.

L has been having lots of fun with some plastic fruit that we have and having particular fun asking Jim to juggle them. His favorite part is when Jim inevitably drops one of the pieces. Well, today, L was very insistent that J juggle two plastic bananas. We couldn't help but take a video of all the laughing that was going on! Even more special to us is that these plastic fruits belonged to Kim's great aunt and they were ones that she herself played with as a child...

Indoor tobogganing

Here's a great little video of Logan pulling some of his toys in his toboggan. Jim and he invented a clean-up game where L is in the sled and they go around the house and put everything in, and then go around again to put everything away. I think this is L's own version of this that he was playing by himself.

Preuss party

Here's some cute stuff of L exploring Preuss Pets, a ginormous pet store in Old Town. He loves animals and fish, so pet stores have been a great afternoon activity. This day we went with his favorite buds, C & J. The second time we went, he just ran down the aisles at full speed as if he owned the place!

The carpool shot! J, L, and C all in the back!

L super happy about the fishes, or as he calls them "blub blub blub"

Here's a pic of the boys peering over the bridge to look at all the carp! L was quite fond of the challenge that the bridge poses, going up and down the incline too!

Here's what the boys were looking at: ginormous carp and catfish in the indoor pond.

Here's video of L exploring the place!

Potty news!

So Logan has been VERY interested in all the potty-ing that goes on at Montessori, but up until yesterday, not particularly interested in doing anything about it, other than telling us that he pooped. So I had brought over our little Boon potty to our friend's house for her little guy to try it out because he was very interested in it. Well sure enough, yesterday Logan decided today was the day, and he wanted to pee into something. I pulled out a suitable toileting container that looked like a mini-potty (a collection device for stool), and he peed right into it. He has decided so far that he prefers to stand up, rather than sit down, not sure how that will work in the long run.

And then this morning, he came up to me, signed help, and tapped his diaper to indicate he just pooped and needed changing. When I took off his dipe, I asked him if he need to go pee, and he say "uh huh". So I brought him into the bathroom and he peed (standing up again) into mini-toilet. Then, pointed at super happy, signed more, and squeezed out a few more drops. This happened two more times and then he was off playing! Big boy! Only a few days shy of 17 months old! I'm sure this is some kind of a record!

Here he is looking at his pee! He was very proud of himself!

And here he is not entirely sure if he is done peeing...
