Helping mom out!

So two of these are from the other day. L got a new shirt that looks similar to one that J has, and so of course when he wore it we needed some pics, especially with his sporty visor. We also needed to make sure we captured on film his very L way of playing. A lot of kids sit up to play, but not L: he is too cool for school -- he leans on his forearm and kicks back to enjoy his books. And the last pic is of L "helping" while I put away groceries. Here, he is relocating the Thai fish sauce into the crisper drawer. Very helpful indeed. He was very mad when I moved him away from his "helping" spot! He was determined to place the chocolate sauce in there as well.

When one door closes...

This morning, L and I retired to his room so he could nurse and then I could put him down for a nap. J said he was going to pop out to Panera to pick us up some coffee. Usually he takes Sadie with him; she waits in the front seat until he gets back with some bread samples. But I guess today he didn't take her. I didn't realize this until L was drifting off to sleep while nursing, his door closed, I heard what sounded like a pan fall to the floor. But L was in that crucial, don't breathe phase or I'm going to wake up and potentially scream phase. I sat there with him going into a deep sleep while Sadie cruised the counters, the sink, and everything else she could get his dirty little paws on until she was caught red-pawed when Jim walked in from Panera. She scored curried pork chop juices and remnants of some coconut rice, along with some pork grissle and some other plate remainders. Crazy dog! I am thankful though that it wasn't a(nother) diaper though.

All before noon...

Today was a rough mom day! Logan is on the move and if engineers could harness his energy global warming would not even remotely be a problem. L woke up at 5:23a. I managed to cajole him back to sleep by 6, but he would have no part of it and was up again at 6:33a. At that point, I turned him over to J, since I had been up with him a lot during the night, teething, etc. J, L, and Sadie went on an early morning drive and hike. He had a late breakfast and went down for a short nap. I heard rustling and decided to check up on him -- Good thing, because I walked in his room and he was STANDING and looking decidedly proud of his accomplishment. After his nap, he was full of energy and spunk. He pulled himself up (or tried to) on me, on the chair, the ottoman, the coffee table, his toy basket, the laundry basket, the diaper organizer, and the changing table. He also dumped his entire toy basket and book basket all over the floor, got into the lazy susan and removed the majority of his food bowls, crawled all over the kitchen, dining room, and living room, played for a bit under his jumperoo, tried to eat two of Sadie's bones and one of her tennis balls, he also gave himself lots of kisses in the mirror, and "chased" an empty water bottle around the kitchen floor.

THEN, we went to the chiropractor at 10:30a. Here he was lavished with attention from the secretaries while I got adjusted, and then he got some treatment too. Then, we came home and had lunch. Of course, needless to say, I'm exhausted today and really wishing I could lead a caffeine-full lifestyle!

All splash

L is a no fear swimmer, no tears, just all splash! When we take the class, we have to distance ourselves from other little ones because he splashes so much!

Swimmies!!

L is really enjoying family swim and his Parent-tot swim class. Dad had to work, but Grammy, Pop Pop, L, and I got to sneak off to an early afternoon family swim! L enjoys it so much that everyone gets so many kisses, and then to a long nap afterwards!

Will crawl for kugel!

Movin' and shakin'

Logan has reached some important milestones, and so it has been a challenge to try to keep this blog updated. He has mastered the commando crawl and is now moving on to conquering the on "all fours" crawl. Also now, that he is pushing himself up to all fours he is also pulling himself up on all possible surfaces, mom and dad, the coffee table, the safety gates, the ottoman, a laundry basket, a toy basket, the tub, etc. It has been exciting and scary and fun. Literally, if we "unleash" him in any room he seems to find the most dangerous hazards possible. So we are steadily securing the house to make it safer for him. His main play area in the living room is probably as secure as it can get. When Grammy and Pop Pop were out here, we really did a lot of work on that, and Pop Pop had to McGyver a few things, a combo string and spring device for the coffee table drawers that open from both sides and 1X4 zip-tied to the iron banister to accomodate the safety gate to name a few!

Here are a few pics - one of L teething on my toe (I feel like we have a new puppy again!) and one of L, Sadie, and me on a walk.

Turn head sideways

Jim recorded this one with the camera turned accidentally, so flip your screens or your head to watch Logan do a little jig in his kilt!

Och, Aye I am a sleekit bairn in this here kilt!

We decided that for Tom & Presc's upcoming nuptials that Logan would sport the Stewart tartan (clan on Jim's mom's side), and it came in the mail from Scotland yesterday. We just couldn't stop taking pictures. I'm sure he'll hate us when he is 13, but as Jim reminded me, he would hate us anyways! :)

Some new pics

So Logan is working on his top two teeth! Holy moly, that will make a total of 4 in less than a month. Now you might understand why we really have not had time to post! He has been a bit grumpy, particularly since his top two came in at the same time that he got an ear infection and a bad cough/wheeze.

In other Logan news, he has decided that he also love love loves peas, butternut squash, yogurt, apricots, and apples. Green beans gave him a bit too much gas, so we'll be re-introducing that in the next coming weeks, along with mangos and peaches! Yummers!

He's also starting to do a bit of a commando crawl that has startled the dog on more than one occasion because once he gets it, he moves fairly fast, but he keeps "forgetting" how he moves around! She tends to just look to us with this, please help me look!

Yesterday, he also had his first Parent-Tot swim class at the Y. He was FEARLESS! All the other babies were not so sure about this whole pool thing, but not L and I don't think it had much to do with the few Family Swims that we did. He enjoyed the fun games, especially "Motor boat". He even "tried" going under water, but I was a bit too nervous to dunk him all the way. Maybe next weekend!
