My dad's friend, B, recently adopted an adorable Beagle pup, named Auggie. So of course L was super excited about seeing "adog" and was actually peeved at both dad and I when we left B's house. While the puppy was clearly being a puppy, they actually were being quite gentle with each other. I was more nervous of what L would do to Auggie than what the dog could do to L having seen him attack Sadie! Anyway, here they are playing around a little:

Contagious, maniacal laughter
Here is a video that I thought that I uploaded before, but realized that I didn't. It is about a month old from the middle of May. It is of Jim making Logan laugh...

NY, part 5: Playing with M
Here they are playing together! We didn't quite get to the camera quick enough. Right before this L was pushing M on the ride on toy. Very cute!
The System has been breached!
Here is classic L, in under a few seconds he has pulled the childproofing off my parents cabinet doors. You can hear him say "Uh-oh" in the background.

Swimmies! Part 2
Clearly L is taking after his Uncle T and is priming himself for marathon swims. When we are in the pool, L "swims" from one side to the other, or to Grammy/Grandpa and back to mom over and over and over again. He also likes to "rescue" the water toys. Next water movie to come will be of L and me playing catch!
NY, part 4: Visit from the Benediktsson Ladies
A good friend, A, and her little one, M, one year old, took the train from Boston to visit us in NY. And the kids have been having a great time, exhausting each other out. L is studying M intently as she is walking and he is only beginning to cruise. We have been to Ralph's Italian Ices twice and have also made daily trips to the park for some time on the swings!

First thing in the morning after L had his morning nap and after M got up for the first time (he's an early bird and she's a late riser), they got to the work of playing!

And here they are playing side by side on the floor!

Do you hear the dog, Logan?
Okay, it takes a parent to hear the proto-language of a 9 month old, but L has begun to say "dog": he does not quite get to the "g" part, but every time he sees a dog or hears one barking he says this word that mostly sounds like dog. Of course, he can't always distinguish say a dog barking from say a door slamming as he did today, as he is so accustomed to Sadie's deep bark, I suppose we can cut him some slack!

Uh-oh!: NY pt. 3

As promised here are the bruise pictures. One is from the first day that he took the dive and then the next day (which is a bit more green).
Today, I tried to keep track of how many times L bumped his head or fell and I lost track by 10 am! Here are the konks from the time he woke up until his first nap!
5:30 am Crawled into the wall and bumped his head
6:05 am Was holding onto the cabinet and slipped and hit his head into cabinet
6:35 am Crawled under kitchen chair and hit his head on bottom of chair
7:05 am Standing next to coffee table, dropped toy, and bent down to pick it up and hit head on table on way down.

Uh-oh!: NY pt. 2
We had some unfortunate excitement this morning. L woke up from his morning nap and we were about to change and get ready for a walk down to the park, when L decided he didn't like how long I was taking to change him, and he decided to crawl/jump/lead head first off the bed landing squarely on his head. In less than a minute a bruise started to appear a little larger than a quarter. I called Pop Pop to come home from work to be on call in case we needed to go to urgent care/ER. I called Jim and explained what happened and we decided based on the size of the bruise, where it was located (near his temple), and how quickly the bruise came up, that we ought to go to an urgent care place to have him checked out. We opted against the ER since he seemed okay with his mood, other than needy and whiny understandable given how severe the tumble. It took over a half an hour for us to find a place who would look at L - we had trouble with people who wouldn't take infants, didn't want to take new patients, who were concerned with payment and out of towners, etc.
At the urgent care, they checked his eyes, made sure there was no blood in his ears, and palpated the bruise, as well as "checked the rest of his body" for other bruises that he might have suffered from the fall (code for making sure I wasn't abusing him -- which is fine with me; I was glad that the doctor was doing her job). He got a good bill of health, no motrin, ck for vomitting, uneven pupil dilation, etc.
We're trying to take a picture of the bruise to post up. He looks like such a thug bruiser now!

Do you want some O's?
L is getting better and better at eating, and one of his favorite treats is Annie's Organic Bunnies & X's & O's cereal! He is also finding a new appreciation for some of his old favorites in their more solid forms, like butternut squash and sweet potato.
NY, part 1
L visited Grammy at work, PS 131Q Abigail Adams in Queens. He was very interested in all the books and fun stuff on the walls. He was also very happy to meet all of Grammy's teacher friends.
L enjoying the boat on the Nautical Mile. Grammy, Pop Pop, K and L went to the annual festival, but the line at Ralph's Italian Ices was too long, so J was all too happy for us to wait for him to arrive and go there on Monday!
The pack is back together!
Extreme close up!
L after enjoying his dinner at the Greek Festival that my parents (and I when I lived here) went to every year for Father's day.
L with Grammy and Pop Pop
We have been in NY since June 5, and after his meeting at Bard, J stopped in for a couple of days before returning to Michigan to get in some good times with us since we wouldn't be returning until June 28. J has to hurry up and get some work done on his manuscript as he is now under contract with Palgrave Press, and K needs to get a substantial amount of work done on her diss as well -- so we needed some help from the grandparents to make that happen!
We have been enjoying our time here. L is in the pool almost daily (pictures and videos to come on that), and so far Kim has written 8 pages on her current chapter.

how many??
Today was a rough nap day. L went down for a morning nap just fine, but then for his afternoon nap it just wasn't happening. He slept for 30 minutes and was up. We tried an hour and half later and then he slept for only 15 minutes. I had the presence of mind to take a look in his mouth to see if there were some new teeth coming in, especially since he has been drooling really really hard. Right now, his two front teeth, plus the top incisors are broken through and the bottom two are in. BUT, I could see the canine/eye teeth coming in and I could feel one incisor in on the bottom coming in. Thankfully, I've got grammy and grandpa to help - I'm exhausted and so is he!! We managed to distract him a little with more time in the pool.

Another plane ride
Remind me to ALWAYS book a direct flight even if it costs a lot more! L was great by most standards, but he was pretty ticked off by his own. We had a lot of delays at every leg--leaving Lansing, arriving into Chicago, leaving Chicago, and arriving at LaGuardia. We were supposed to have arrived at LGA at 1:16p and we didn't get there until around 2:45p -- so we got up at 6a and were not at my parent's house until somewhere in the 4p range. Not as bad, door to door as the CA trip, but the on/off and the palpable stress of those around us from all the delays were hard.
The moment of hilarity on the trip: We sat in the back row of the plane for the Chicago --> NY leg and L thought all of the people heading to the rest room were there for his entertainment. He kept everyone in good spirits. And while I managed to keep him out of everyone's hair so that he couldn't pull it, he did get a bit fresh with a young high schooler who was wearing short shorts. She thought he was cute. Her classmates standing next to her looked at L with envy that he could get away with a move like that and they never could! LOL!
